
14 May Partners of Avante Abogados will participate as non-governmental advisers in the ICN’s annual conference
The activities of the International Competition Network’s (ICN) annual conference will begin tonight in the city of Cartagena. The event is organized this year by the Superintendency of Industry and Commerce (SIC), which will be hosting more than 500 attendants from all over the world. The ICN’s annual conference is considered as the most important event for Competition Law. It will gather 137 competition authorities, representatives of international organizations as the OECD and the American Bar Association, as well as a group of private practice attorneys that have been nominated by the competition authorities as non-governmental advisers.
This time, authorities and experts will discuss about free competition and public policies in relation to a variety of aspects such as Competition Law and culture-based economy, challenges of competition policy in the digital era and merger control and globalization, among others. Besides the SIC representing Colombia, the event will be attended by the former Superintendents Jairo Rubio, José Miguel de la Calle, Emilio José Archila and Gustavo Valbuena. Other honored guests are Alfonso Miranda, director of the CEDEC and partner of the Law Firm Esguerra Asesores Jurídicos, Gabriel Ibarra, president of the Colombian Competition Law Association and partner of the Law Firm Ibarra Abogados, Felipe Serrano, partner of the Law Firm SerranoMartínez, Carolina Pardo from Baker & Mackenzie and Pablo Márquez, partner of the Law Firm MBCR.
The partners of Avante Abogados will be also attending the ICN’s annual conference. Carlos Esguerra will attend the event as part of the ICN’s merger control working team and, Juan David Gutiérrez, as adviser to the Dominican Republic Competition authority (ProCompetencia).
